Coffee Chili

Ingredients for 6 portions 

30 ml   Oil 
2   Onion (s), chopped 
3   Garlic clove (s), crushed 
500 g   Ground beef 
500 g   Beef, finely diced stew meat 
1 large can / s Tomato (n), crushed slightly,   with liquid 
250 ml  Beer, dark 
200 ml  Coffee, strong 
2 kl. Dose / s  Tomato paste 
200 ml  Broth 
3 tablespoons Chili powder is mixed with brown sugar 
1 tbsp   Cocoa powder (baking cocoa, unsweetened) 
½ tsp   Oregano 
1 tbsp   Cumin 
  Salt and pepper 
3   Chili pepper (s), chopped finely 
3 Box / n   Kidney beans, drained 
½ tsp   Coriander, ground 


Preparation (time: 30 min)

Oil in a large pot, is onions, garlic, meat cubes and fry minced fine ten minutes. Then the remaining ingredients (except the beans) add taste and - quiet begin first with less chili pepper.Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, about one and a half hours. Then add the beans and let simmer another 30 minutes, maybe add some more broth or beer. 

The ingredients may sound funny - hot chocolate, beer, coffee? The result is a very spicy, dark, thick chili, which in Texas (and since we know how to cook chili!) In 1999 emerged as the winner of the "Statewide Chili Championship. To that fits Chili (American) corn bread with honey butter or (European) French bread.
